Nutrition Coaching in Alpharetta

Targets built from your measured resting metabolic rate, not an app's estimate, with a plan for the travel weeks and restaurant dinners that make up most people's real lives.

Targets set from measured RMR, not a calculator

At a glance

What nutrition coaching includes

  • Measured energy needs — targets built from your resting metabolic rate on the KORR CardioCoach™, not a generic formula.
  • Protein targets for lean mass — set to protect muscle during training or a weight-management phase, not just to hit a calorie number.
  • A plan for real weeks — coaching built around travel and restaurant-heavy weeks, not an assumption of a perfectly controlled kitchen.
  • Adherence over perfection — a plan you can actually sustain, adjusted when life gets in the way rather than abandoned.
  • Coordinated with the rest of your plan — nutrition targets that connect directly to your training load and, where relevant, a medical weight-loss program.

Measured needs, not a calculator

Most nutrition plans start with an app estimate: enter your age, weight and activity level, and the app returns a calorie target built from a population average. That estimate can be meaningfully off for an individual, particularly someone who trains regularly, since predictive equations for resting metabolic rate frequently diverge from what indirect calorimetry actually measures in athletic populations (comparison of measured and predicted resting metabolic rate, PMC). Nutrition coaching at Aeon starts from your own metabolic testing result on the KORR CardioCoach™, so your energy target reflects your physiology rather than a formula's best guess.

The gap between an estimate and a measured number tends to widen exactly when it matters most: during a sustained calorie deficit, a bulking phase, or a stretch of significantly increased training volume, all situations where a member is relying heavily on the accuracy of their target. A plan built on an estimate that happens to be close enough works fine until it does not, and by the time a member notices a plateau that will not budge, weeks may have passed working against the wrong number. Measuring the number at the outset removes that risk from the start.

Protein targets built for lean mass

Calorie targets get the attention, but protein intake is often the more consequential variable, particularly for anyone training or in any phase of energy restriction. In a controlled study of 20 resistance-trained adults undergoing two weeks of energy restriction, participants consuming a higher protein intake (roughly 2.3 grams per kilogram of body mass) lost significantly less lean body mass than those at a standard protein intake, despite comparable total weight loss (Mettler et al., PubMed). A broader meta-analysis of 114 randomized trials across 4,184 participants with overweight or obesity found that resistance training combined with adequate protein intake was associated with better preservation of fat-free mass during weight loss than diet alone (systematic review and meta-analysis, PMC). We set protein targets deliberately for this reason, particularly for members also working through a medical weight loss program, where protecting lean mass is a stated priority rather than an afterthought.

Nutrition for how you actually live

A nutrition plan that only works with a perfectly stocked kitchen and no travel is a plan that fails most people within a month. Coaching at Aeon is built around your real week, including regular travel, client dinners, and the unpredictable schedule that comes with executive and parenting life. That means practical frameworks for ordering at a restaurant, adjusting intake around a travel-heavy week without abandoning the plan entirely, and rebuilding structure quickly after a disrupted stretch, rather than a rigid meal plan that assumes total control over every input.

This is where a coach who knows your full schedule, not just your macros, becomes useful. A plan that assumes three home-cooked meals a day is not a plan for someone who travels two weeks a month for work; it is a plan that sets that person up to feel like they are failing by the second week of the quarter. Coaching sessions address the actual weeks on your calendar: a heavy travel stretch, a run of client dinners, a holiday period, and build a specific approach for each, rather than a single template applied regardless of circumstance.

Adherence over perfection

The single best predictor of whether a nutrition plan works is not how theoretically optimal it is, but whether someone can actually follow it most of the time. Coaching sessions focus on identifying where a plan is breaking down in practice, adjusting the approach rather than the willpower, and treating an off week as information rather than a failure to correct with stricter rules. This is a deliberate departure from all-or-nothing dieting, which tends to produce short bursts of strict adherence followed by longer stretches of abandoning the plan altogether.

In practice, this looks like regular, low-friction check-ins rather than a rigid weigh-in-and-judge cadence. If a week went sideways, the useful question is what specifically made it hard to follow the plan, a late flight, a stretch of back-to-back dinners, a stressful work period, and what adjustment would make the next similar week easier, not a tally of what went wrong. Coaches who understand this distinction tend to keep members progressing steadily rather than cycling through repeated restarts.

Credentials behind the coaching

Nutrition coaching at Aeon is delivered by our training staff, not by registered dietitians, and we are direct about that distinction. Thomas Jenei holds Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification alongside his NASM certifications and Exercise Science degree from Georgia College & State University, and brings that nutrition coaching background to members working on body composition, performance and longevity goals (see our purpose page). Where a member's situation calls for care beyond general nutrition coaching, a diagnosed eating disorder, a complex medical condition requiring medical nutrition therapy, or a need for a registered dietitian's scope of practice, we say so directly and point toward that referral rather than attempting to coach around it.

How nutrition supports medical weight loss

For members in our medical weight loss program, nutrition coaching is not a side conversation, it is one of the core levers alongside resistance training and, where a licensed provider determines it clinically appropriate, medication. Targets are set from measured resting metabolic rate and reviewed as that number, and your body composition scan results, change through the program, so the plan adjusts to what is actually happening in your body rather than staying fixed to a number set on day one.

Questions

What members ask before starting

Is Aeon's nutrition coach a registered dietitian?

Our coaching team holds certifications including Precision Nutrition Level 1; we do not represent our coaches as registered dietitians. Where a member's situation calls for a registered dietitian or physician-level nutrition guidance, we will say so and point you toward that referral.

How is my calorie target set?

From your measured resting metabolic rate, taken on the KORR CardioCoach™, combined with your training load and goals. That is a materially different starting point than an app estimate built from your age, weight and an activity multiplier.

What if I travel a lot or eat out most weeks?

That is exactly what the coaching is built to handle. We plan around the way you actually eat, including regular travel and restaurant meals, rather than designing a plan that only works in a perfectly controlled kitchen.

How does nutrition coaching connect to medical weight loss?

Nutrition targets are one of the core levers in our medical weight loss program, set from measured resting metabolic rate and protein needs so that any weight lost is more likely to come from fat than lean tissue.

Do you focus on strict adherence to a meal plan?

No. We prioritize consistency over perfection, since a good plan followed most of the time outperforms a perfect plan followed rarely. Coaching adjusts as your schedule and life change rather than treating any deviation as failure.
